Whilst shooting for Victory Motorcycles in Arizona, Garry Owens went on a mission to find a location that he had seen on a film. Knowing it was near by he set out to see if it looked as cool and was not just a film set. Once Garry found it, he couldn’t believe that the place was exactly as his ‘Sun City’ series depicts. It was a retirement village, pristine, with cars kept as they should be in garages and only old people to chat to. They were of course dentured and very suspicious of Garry and his camera. By the end of the day they all wanted to show him their mobility scooters.

This series is from an exhibition by Michele, exploring the constraint of the environment and developing it to create something lovely, i.e an ordinary apartment becoming part of the palette. The people at that location are not models, just ‘real’ and present.
"It was all about walking in and making it work, the boy was a natural in front of the camera".
These images had little ‘tweaking’, all being captured in camera.
